Breastfeeding complications, such as Mastitis and breast abscess, are common conditions that can arise due to infection, inflammation, or improper breastfeeding techniques. Mastitis refers to inflammation of the breast tissue, often accompanied by pain, swelling, warmth, and redness. If untreated, it can progress to a breast abscess, a localized collection of pus within the breast tissue.
In Ayurveda, such conditions are collectively referred to as “Stanavidradhi”, where "Stana" means breast and "Vidradhi" refers to abscess or deep-seated inflammatory swelling. Ayurveda approaches this condition with a focus on reducing inflammation (shotha), eliminating infection (krimi or dushti), and promoting healing and lactation (stanyavardhana and stanashuddhi) through natural remedies.
